Grace for the Work (Part 1)

Imagine living two thousand years ago and seeing one of Jesus Christ’s Apostles—Paul of Tarsus—from afar. Though not one of the original twelve, Paul is perhaps one of the most devoted followers of our Lord. His life, transformed after his encounter with Christ, became a testimony of unwavering faith and endurance.

You stand, somewhat spellbound, watching him from a distance. A friend nearby nudges you and says, “You should go and say hello.” You hesitate, then ask, “Tell me… what’s he like?” After a thoughtful pause, your friend replies, “He is dead to anything and everything except Christ and Christ’s.” You ponder those words.

Acts 14:22 reminds us that “we must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.” This truth is vividly seen in Paul’s life. The Bible recounts moments when he endured physical assaults, suffered through the perils of nature, and faced rejection from those he once considered friends. And yet, through all this, he displayed relentless courage and commitment.

How did he endure such suffering? One word: Grace.

In this week’s message, Grace for the Work (Part 1), we study Acts 14:24–28. With Christ as our vision, and Paul as His faithful witness, we too can stand firm in the face of attacks, doubts, and trials—because the grace of our Lord is always holding His people.

Enjoy the message.
